

Minister Sibonjic Spoke with Professors Dautbegović and Petković
Minister Sibonjic met with Professors Dautbegović and Petković to discuss the RTIT project, WPC materials and circular economy.
The head of the RTIT project (Knowhow Communities for Accelerating RTI Transfer in the Danube Region), Associate Professor Dr Džafer Dautbegović, and project associate Assistant Professor Dr Darko Petković, Director of CIP UNZE, held a working meeting with the Minister of Economy of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Samir Sibonjic. On this occasion, the RTIT project was presented, with the main focus on the development of WPC (wood polymer composite) materials based on waste materials from the plastics and wood industries.
The topic had partly been discussed with Turkish businesspeople at the recently held ZEPS 2024 fair in Zenica, where the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce also presented WPC material and product manufacturers. The CIP UNZE project team discussed possibilities for RTI cooperation with the Minister, as well as the importance of practical student training in business systems, with Minister Sibonjic expressing support and offering assistance in implementation, including the possibility of UNZE students visiting business zones in Turkey.
At the end of the meeting, the importance of the circular economy and experiences of Zenica-Doboj Canton and Turkish regions in managing municipal and industrial waste were discussed. The professors presented Minister Sibonjic with specialist publications – a book on non-hazardous waste landfills and a proceedings volume from the International Conference Maintenance 2022.
