UNDP Delegation Visits ZDK: Discussions on the New Cantonal Hospital and Joint Projects

UNDP Representative Renaud Meyer visited ZDK. Discussions on the new 800-bed Cantonal Hospital and future joint projects held.

UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) Resident Representative in BiH Renaud Meyer and Project Manager Nasir Nalić visited Zenica-Doboj Canton, where they met with Cantonal Premier Nezir Pivić and Minister of Economy Samir Sibonjic. Discussions covered previous cooperation, as well as significant projects that both sides could jointly implement for the benefit of ZDK citizens.

Premier Nezir Pivić thanked UNDP for their cooperation to date and informed the guests about the development priorities of the ZDK Government. "We are very satisfied with the cooperation with UNDP, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, when they significantly helped the citizens of the canton. This Government is committed to improving the state of healthcare. Our strategic goal is the construction of a new Cantonal Hospital with a capacity of 800 beds, which would be the largest hospital built in BiH since the war," stated Premier Pivić, adding that there are numerous opportunities for UNDP to support projects related to the construction of this hospital.

Renaud Meyer, for whom this was the first official visit to ZDK, explained that UNDP works in five-year development cycles and that the new cycle begins in 2026, representing an ideal moment to discuss joint priorities and expectations. Meyer noted that consultations had already been conducted in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, and Bihać, and that in Zenica they aimed to jointly find solutions that will benefit all citizens. UNDP has been operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1996.
