Visit to the Halać Family Business: A Model of Successful Entrepreneurship

Minister Sibonjic visited the Halać family business in Zenica, which grew from a garage startup in 2005 into two thriving furniture businesses with 33 employees.

The Minister of Economy of Zeničko-Dobojski Canton, Samir Sibonjic, visited the Halać family business, which in a short period of time has developed two successful enterprises in the field of upholstered furniture manufacturing and retail.

Mehrudin Halać, a mining technician by profession, launched his own upholstered furniture production together with his wife Aida Halać under the name P.O. Hari Namještaj, Zenica. Their son Haris started his own business in 2017 by opening the DOMEA Furniture Showroom in the Zeničanka Department Store.

"Family business, developed precisely the way the Halać family has built theirs, represents an opportunity for the development of all of Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are many examples that support this. We need to find ways to further create an environment that strengthens this concept, which has proven to be successful," Minister Sibonjic stated.

The Halać family story began in 2005 in their own garage, with borrowed capital. The first sofa took 11 days to complete as a finished product. The business grew to leasing premises at the Zenica Business Incubator (ZEDA), and since 2020 the company Hari Namještaj d.o.o. has been operating from its own premises. Today, all family members are employed in the business, along with 33 additional employees.
