MZ Raduša developed the Dolačka ravan sports complex used by over 100 people daily

Grantee:Local community Raduša, Tešanj

One project, several phases, one sports complex

"Dolačka ravan" was not a new project starting from zero. It was a long-term undertaking developed over years by the Municipality of Tešanj, MZ Raduša, and the Youth Association "Dolačka ravan". Each phase visibly built on the previous one.

The initial phase: the Municipality of Tešanj provided the land and made a football pitch with artificial grass. The Youth Association "Dolačka ravan", with donations from citizens and sponsors, procured equipment, protective netting, lighting, and a protective fence. A children's playground was also arranged next to the pitch.

After that, the external arrangement of the complex was completed: paths around the pitch, the entrance access, completing the details that turned the "skeleton" of the sports facility into a fully usable space.

Modernisation - from football to a multisport centre

In the latest phase, "Dolačka ravan" became a real multisport complex. Execution was broken down into a clear dynamic plan that included:

  • Plumbing works in the auxiliary building and installation of a surveillance camera
  • A basketball court with the laying of bergo cubes and asphalting around the court
  • Installation of the stand structure and plateau preparation
  • Finalisation with plateau arrangement, planting of a tree line, installation of benches, and final arrangement of access paths

All works were completed within one construction season.

What "Dolačka ravan" actually changes for Raduša

The figure that best describes the significance of the complex: over 100 users daily use the space. These are:

  • Children coming with their parents to the playground
  • Recreational users using the artificial grass
  • Football schools from the region
  • Youth gathering in their free time
  • School groups in organised time slots

With the addition of a basketball court with bergo cubes, stands, plumbing, and an auxiliary building in function, the complex moved from the category of "village football pitch" to a micro sports centre capable of hosting tournaments, sports schools, and larger events.

Innovation - what sets Raduša apart

Most projects of this size in local communities limit themselves to pitch reconstruction. "Dolačka ravan" went further through:

  • Integrated approach - sports pitch + stands + horticulture (tree line) + urban furniture (benches)
  • Smart elements - a surveillance camera (rare for sports pitches in smaller communities), installed for security and infrastructure protection
  • Bergo cubes as a long-term aesthetic and practical solution for a basketball court with a low-cost maintenance period
  • Plumbing in the auxiliary building - a precondition for organising tournaments and larger events
  • Social and ecological layer - tree line, benches, plateau - a space for families and recreational users, not only athletes

Such a comprehensive approach does not view the sports space as merely a place for physical activity but as a strategic public resource that develops the community, educates youth, and promotes health.

Readiness - all documented

MZ Raduša attached full documentation:

  • Consent of the Service for Urbanism, Property-Legal, and Cadastre Affairs - for works on public surface
  • Conceptual design of the whole complex showing all phases
  • Internal record on the use of the pitch and number of users (proof of functionality)
  • Technical descriptions and bills of quantities for plumbing, asphalting, cube laying, stands, and plateau

The project was integrated into the annual plan of Local Community Raduša and supported by local sports clubs and associations.

Sustainability

  • The complex is already in active use - over 100 users daily, visitors are not awaited, they are there
  • It is free and publicly accessible in daily slots - a guarantee of social inclusion
  • MZ and sports clubs are operational partners for regular maintenance
  • The surveillance camera protects the infrastructure from vandalism and wear
  • Previously invested funds from several sources (Municipality, MZ, Youth Association, sponsors, citizens) mean the project has a solid base for lasting operation

The message of the project

With this project, Raduša showed something rarely seen in local communities: systematic, multi-year, rounded development of a single space. There was no chasing of new projects, instead the same complex was carefully upgraded, phase by phase, with partners who understand the long-term horizon.

The result is a place that gives a child somewhere to play, youth somewhere to train, families somewhere to spend summer afternoons, and the Municipality of Tešanj concrete proof that a village can have a sports complex that other cities can copy as an example.
