Cooperation with Aegean Region Tourism Association ETİK on Tourism Investments in BiH
Meeting with ETİK President Mehmet İşler on tourism cooperation and joint investments between the Aegean region and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Premier of Zenica-Doboj Canton Nezir Pivić and Minister of Economy Samir Sibonjic met with Mehmet İşler, President of the Association of Tourism Enterprises and Hoteliers of the Aegean Region (ETİK) and Vice President of the Turkish Federation of Hoteliers (TÜROFED), at ETİK's headquarters. The meeting addressed tourism cooperation and potential investments in both countries, and it was agreed that delegations would reconvene in February 2024 with concrete projects and proposals.
President İşler highlighted that realistic opportunities exist for achieving tourism mobility between the two countries, emphasising that Bosnia and Herzegovina receives four million tourists annually and that the visa-free regime between the two countries further facilitates cooperation. Discussions centred on encouraging Turkish citizens to choose Bosnia and Herzegovina for winter and sports tourism, while Bosnian-Herzegovinian tourists would be directed toward Aegean destinations for summer tourism.
The delegation also visited the 17th International Travel Turkey Izmir Fair, where contacts were established with prominent tourism professionals and hotel managers from the Aegean region. İşler stressed that Aegean tourism professionals and businesspeople have made serious strategic efforts to invest in the heart of Europe, and that ETİK and TÜROFED will continue to develop this cooperation together with chambers of commerce on both sides.
