VET Conference: ZDK the Only Ministry Incentivizing Firms for Practical Education

The two-day conference "Vocational Education and Training in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Best Practices and Future Priorities" was held in Sarajevo Canton, bringing together approximately two hundred representatives of international organizations, relevant ministries, the education sector, and the business community of BiH.

The conference was organized by the Sarajevo Canton Chamber of Commerce and the Zenica-Doboj Canton Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with GIZ on behalf of the Governments of Switzerland and Germany. The event was attended by the ambassadors of Austria, Germany, and Switzerland to BiH.

The ZDK Government was represented by Minister of Economy Samir Sibonjic, Minister of Education Draženka Subašić, and Minister of Labour Zlatko Jelić.

The ZDK Ministry of Economy has been an active member of the Inter-Sectoral Working Group in the canton from the outset, resulting in excellent cooperation with the ZDK Chamber of Commerce. Minister Sibonjic emphasized that socially responsible entrepreneurs who accept students for practical training and summer internships must be recognized and rewarded.

"The Ministry of Economy is the only one in BiH that has recognized companies accepting students for practical training and summer internships, by securing funds for entrepreneurs and awarding an additional ten points in the evaluation of applications within two incentive programmes. We will continue with these and similar benefits in the coming period," highlighted Minister Sibonjic.
