The Islamic Centre Sultan Ahmed ceremonially opened in Zenica - 5,500 m2 with library, kindergarten and mekteb, a 10 million KM investment.

The Islamic Centre "Sultan Ahmed" in Zenica was ceremonially opened in the presence of numerous dignitaries and guests as part of the "Days of Waqf" event organised by the Waqf Directorate of the Islamic Community in BiH. Construction of the complex, begun in 2002, was financed by numerous donors, institutions, and the State of Kuwait, with the Government of Zeničko-Dobojski Canton as the largest domestic donor, having contributed approximately 800,000 KM of the total 10 million KM invested.

The Islamic Centre spans approximately 5,500 m2 of enclosed space and includes conference halls, a library with a reading room, a kindergarten, the central Zenica mekteb, a restaurant, a cafeteria, business premises, and foreign language learning platforms. The ceremony was attended by, among others, Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović, representatives of the State of Kuwait, the Ambassador of Palestine to BiH, muftis, imams, and numerous citizens from across BiH.

Premier Nezir Pivić emphasised that the Islamic Community has the Government's full support and that the centre represents a blend of tradition and modern architecture, one of the most beautiful architectural complexes in the canton. He confirmed the Government's commitment to continue supporting projects in all local communities, expressing the wish that the centre will long serve as a hub of religious and cultural life for Zenica and the region.
