Minister Šibonjić Leads Delegation at First Libyan-Bosnian Business Forum in Misrata

Minister Šibonjić led a 15-member delegation at the first Libyan-Bosnian Business Forum in Misrata, with a twinning agreement signed between Zenica and Misrata.

Minister of Economy of Zenica-Doboj Canton Samir Šibonjić, as head of delegation, led a 15-member Bosnian-Herzegovinian delegation at the first Libyan-Bosnian Business Forum in Misrata. The Forum was organised in cooperation between the ZEPS fair and SANA Business Consulting & Exhibitions, headed by Salem Zeidan, under the patronage of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company led by Dr Mohamed Abdelmalik Al-Faqih. Minister Šibonjić presented the economic potential of Zenica-Doboj Canton and Bosnia and Herzegovina with a focus on enhancing cooperation with Libya.

The Forum resulted in a series of concrete agreements and initiatives. An initiative was launched to establish a Libyan-Bosnian Business Association, an exclusive partnership was established with SANA Business Consulting for representing the ZEPS fair in the Libyan and North African markets, and a Twinning Agreement was signed between the City of Zenica and the City of Misrata. In addition to Minister Šibonjić, the delegation included President of the FBiH Chamber of Commerce Mirsad Jašarspahić, President of Zenica City Council Snježana Vrhovac, Mayoral Advisor Mirsad Heleg, ZEPS General Director Elvir Ajanović, ZEPS Executive Director Sanel Ibrić, and representatives of domestic companies FE-Metal Zenica, Bontex Maglaj, Metalon Visoko, and Glovis Zenica.

During the stay in Libya, B2B meetings were organised between companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Libya, visits were made to companies in the metal industry, and bilateral meetings were held between relevant ministries and institutions. Significant participation of Libyan companies was announced for the ZEPS 2026 fair, scheduled from 2 to 5 September in Zenica, along with the organisation of the next business forum in Zenica, further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
